Comb
The comb has been specially drawn out by the bees to store honey and the wax is therefore expecially fine and therefore suitable to eat if so desired. We sell comb honey in a variety of ways.
Section honey is the original type of comb honey, it comes in 31/4 inch wooden squares and holds approximately 1 lb of honey.
Ross Rounds / cabana are 3 inch circular plastic rings with a clear plastic lid containing the drawn and filled comb. They hold approximately 1/2 lb of honey.
Cut comb honey is a rectangular block of comb that has been cut from a frame. The frame is started with some specially thin foundation, the bees draw it out, fill and seal it.
Variety of comb honey. In our locality the honey will be mixed wild and crop nectars (but no rape). As each section will be filled by bees in a very short time there will probably be differences between sections. Of more importance we take our bees to the heather which produces a unique honey. Last season (1999) was a very poor one for heather honey so we only have a few Ross Rounds to sell.
